Table & Chair Height Guide

New European Standards for classroom furniture was introduced back in 2007.

The new standard is known as EN1729 parts 1 and 2.

This legislation sets the new standard specifically aimed at classroom tables, desks and chairs for use in UK schools.

Split into 2 parts;

Part 1 checks size and dimensions of a product as well as good posture
Part 2 refers to the strength and durability of the product, which takes into account the robust nature of a school environment.

Recent Government statistics shows that, on average, 3 pupils in a classroom suffer from back issues, it is therefore no surprise that many local authorities and educational establishments are specifying this new regulation when making a new classroom furniture purchase.
